Briar’s Contempt guide
To obtain Briar’s Contempt, players must venture into the Root of Nightmares raid. Specifically, it drops exclusively from the 1st encounter known as Cataclysm. However, if guardians have previously obtained it during the Cataclysm encounter, they also have a chance to receive it as a reward from secret chests or the Nezarec boss fight. It’s worth noting that Briar’s Contempt will not appear in the loot pool of any chest other than the 1st encounter unless it has been unlocked at least once on any character. Players can run the Root of Nightmares raid up to 3 times per week, once on each character. Additionally, it can be crafted by unlocking five Deepsight variants.
When it comes to the ideal rolls for Briar’s Contempt, it’s important to note that it doesn’t offer an extensive selection of standout perks compared to other raid weapons. However, this simplicity makes determining the god roll relatively straightforward, though it does limit the weapon’s versatility. For PvE encounters, Arrowhead Brake is recommended to improve recoil control and handling speed, aiding in consistently landing headshots. Enhanced Battery is also crucial, increasing the magazine size and allowing sustained damage against bosses without the need for frequent reloads.
Two primary perk options, Reconstruction and Rewind Rounds, excel in PvE scenarios, particularly for boss damage. Reconstruction has an edge due to its ability to overflow the magazine, enabling players to unleash substantial damage within a short duration. Regardless of the chosen perk, Focused Fury in the final slot is essential, granting a 20% damage increase upon consistently landing precision hits.
In PvP, Briar’s Contempt lacks standout rolls compared to other weapons, and players seeking a three-round burst linear fusion rifle may find Stormchaser more suitable. However, if players are determined to use Briar’s Contempt in the Crucible, Hammer-Forged Rifling in the first slot is recommended for a 10-range boost, ensuring safer eliminations without putting oneself at risk. Accelerated Coils in the magazine slot increases the fire rate, enabling swift engagement with enemies.
Due to the heavy weapon slot limitations, primary perk options are somewhat limited. Players can opt for either Keep Away, ideal for eliminating distant enemies with Briar’s Contempt, or Demolitionist, which aids in regenerating grenades after kills. Lastly, Harmony in the last slot is suggested as it enhances the damage and performance of other weapons for a brief period upon securing a kill.
