WoW Armory: What is this tool & how to use it

WoW Armory – is a simple utility instrument for World of Warcraft game that consists of information about all characters’ PvP and PvE statistics, collectibles, gear and achievements. The tool has an ergonomic design, therefore information about all player needs is displayed in many ways better than in the game. Gamers use it to find detailed statistics about World of Warcraft characters, item level, achievements, raid and dungeon progress. Gamers can compare their heroes with pro players: MDI and AWC league champions or popular streamers. However, even considering Blizzard is now actively developing hardcore WoW and Season of Discovery, classic players still can’t use the official Armory since this feature involves only retail characters.

WoW Armory sections and utility

WoW Armory is a complex tool gamers use to get information about characters to help in a playthrough.

Summary information locates on the top and shows a title, hero level, item level, race, class, guild name and characters server. All detailed info at the site divides into different sections to show detailed information:

1. The character tab is the primary Armory screen users explore to see the demanded character’s specifications together with its in-game appearance. 3. Collections show collected mounts and pets players get in their playthrough and that they can’t get for various reasons.
4. The Dungeons & Raids section displays PvE content and statistics for the chosen character, not only for the current expansion but for the entire WoW, all seasons included.
5. The Player vs Player tab displayed Honor level, Honorable kills, statistics of arenas/battlegrounds with the game count, number, and percentage of victories.
6. The last one, the Reputation section, shows reputation levels from The Burning Crusade to Dragonflight and helps players trace the rep level and plan in which fractions characters need to progress.

All of these features allow WoW Armory to be useful in many ways for every player because a statistical tool adequately utilized for the game dramatically increases the chances of becoming successful in those aspects of WoW that the player has chosen to develop.

WoW Armory for EU & US game realms

Since Blizzard has a rule restricting gamers from one server from playing in another with the same subscription and players can’t transfer chars between servers, WoW Armory also divides by regions. World of Warcraft currently has three giant servers: EU, Asian, and US. Previously, there was Chinese too, but due to a disagreement between the Chinese publisher and Activision Blizzard, all Blizzard company activities were suspended, and all WoW realms – shut down.

WoW US Armory

World of Warcraft is a game from a US developer, so it’s unsurprising: the most significant community and server are US ones. The US WoW server consists not only of North America (including the USA and Canada), as in many other games, but also of South America, Oceania, and Australia. This massive WoW server is a cluster segmented by geographic location. So, players who want to move from one place to another within the availability of these servers will be fine. Even if their home realm has a higher ping than they are used to, there is always the option to transfer to a realm that is more accessible to the game in terms of internet connection. This also applies to WoW Armory, so all the characters in listed locations will be displayed on the US version of the website.

EU WoW Armory

WoW EU Armory, same as the server, is more compact compared to US one but, therefore, more accessible to players from different countries if they moved or want to play with their friends in the same realms. Due to the absence of such a big ping problem, the EU region is divided not so much by territorial but by linguistic parameters. The server includes English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Italian realms, accessible to players only by using the corresponding language in-game settings. But all the characters in these realms are displayed in EU WoW Armory, no matter what language settings gamers have. Players from EU realms wouldn’t be able to find their characters using US version of Armory tool and vice versa. When the char is inaccessible to search in Armory, users must switch our tool to another region.

World of Warcraft: Classic Expansions Armory Tools

Although Blizzard does not support WoW Armory for classic servers, many fan-made tool versions exist. One such tool is IronForge website, which uses a similar system to Armory but targets versions of the Classic expansions.

Arena Ladder includes the following information: gladiators, duelists, and rivals from each season since Classic WotLK came out, their win/lose statistics, ratings in 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Arena Stats displays graphs with class distribution by rating in all the seasons in both regions. Arena Activity shows characters sorted by rating in all arena versions.

Classic Era Armory

On the Classic Era page, gamers see Armory and Servers – the same as the Main tab for searching and Demographics tab in the Wrath version of the website. On the following page players check Honorable Kills and Gearscore tabs, similar ones, with a list of characters divided by Kills and item levels.

Problems and Solutions of WoW Armory Tool

WoW Armory is a massive, complex tool that raises many questions for both new and old players trying to use it for the first time.

The problems encountered when using WoW Armory tool can be related to in-game problems, WoW server issues, poor internet connection, data loss, Blizzard website malfunction, or other situations causing errors in the operability of this instrument. We gather all the common problems users can encounter with Armory and the solutions for such cases.

1. Error 500 is the most frequent problem users have to deal with. Usual explanation for all 500 errors is that the data sent to the server cannot be processed now. This can apply to absolutely any website, including WoW Armory. Because this bug is happening on the server side, it can be stressful for users, but we know what they should and shouldn’t do. First, any moves like browser change, restarting the PC/router, or reinstalling any related software won’t work. The best you can do here is wait until the server works properly, or you can send a ticket to support. Also, rarely, but still, it can be due to an incorrect query in the search bar, so you must also check that.
2. Late upgrades – this is the situation players encounter when Armory doesn’t show actual information about the character. It can be about the gear or stats displaying incorrectly, the hero’s in-game appearance not showing up, updates on reputation or achievements going wrong, statistics on PvE/PvP aspects not loading very well, or other issues with wrong information. The same as the first problem, it’s most likely a server issue and related to the mechanics of how the website updates its information. Armory should refresh all the information about an account every time a player logs off from the game. The best strategy here is to wait, but several tricks are available, such as changing your account information (it can help the server to update your info) or entering the game and logging off in a major city. If none helps, wait for weekly maintenance or send a ticket to the support.
3. Boosted characters – since Blizzard introduced a character boost, players have experienced a situation when boosted heroes don’t appear in WoW Armory or appear as level 1 without any gear. If the servers are fine, just enter the Armory the next day, and the character should appear with all the gear he or she has.
4. Transfer issue – the problem appears when players transfer their characters on the server without active playtime or changing the fraction. Characters cease to display on the initial server in Armory and don’t show up at the new one, so there were some nervous moments when people came out from the game, wanted to check how their characters were doing and saw none of them. The solution is simple, just like Late upgrades issue: wait till the next day or for the weekly maintenance, change password or other account information and send a ticket to support if none of these solutions work out.
5. Wrong region selection – the problem is encountered in many situations, such as the player moving far from where he was playing, using a VPN, and even checking some characters from another region. In these circumstances, Armory gives you a 404 error, tells the player his character is inactive or deleted, and shows zero information. The first solution is simple: try to find your account in another browser or a new tab. If this doesn’t help, try the tricky solution – in the address string, there is information about the location; to solve the problem, the user needs to change it. If the character is located in EU servers, but the string shows up like this: worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/character/us/(server)/(char name), the character is being searched in the US. Simply change *en-us* to *en-gb*, *us* to *eu*, and server to demand one.
